The greenway of Lake Como is a pedestrian path of about 10 km that leads from Colonno to Griante, passing through Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra and Tremezzo. The promenade offers marvelous scenery amid the greenery, with wide views of the lake at different points, and crosses the villages with their monuments and churches rich in history. Below is a summary of the main steps:
1. Colonno – Sala Comacina: village of Colonno, ancient bridge over the Pessetta torrent, hamlet Sala Comacina and church of San Michele Arcangelo with its famous bell tower.
2. Sala Comacina – Ossuccio: medieval village and small port of Sala Comacina, church of San Bartolomeo and view of the bell tower, the magnificent view of the Comacina Island.
3. Ossuccio – Lenno: village of Ossuccio and the church of Santi Giacomo e Filippo, historical center of Spurano, Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine del Soccorso, public park of Ossuccio and view of the bell tower of the church of Santa Maria Maddalena, Villa Leoni, Santi Eufemia and Vincenzo, Villa del Balbiano.
4. Lenno – Mezzegra: bridge over the Perlana stream to the village of Campo in Lenno, Villa Monastero and Villa del Balbianello, lakefront next to the medieval tower, Villa Aureggi, the church of Santo Stefano and baptistery, up to the pier of Lenno.
5. Mezzegra – Tremezzo: walkway on the Pola stream and up to the village of Borgo di Mezzegra, church of San Giuseppe, church of Sant’Abbondio, The House of Cribs and Palazzo Brentano, historical center of Bonzanigo, Palazzo Rosati.
6. Tremezzo – Griante: historic core of Bolvedro and Tremezzo, Villa la Quiete, VILLA BERTONI, church of San Lorenzo, public park Teresio Olivelli, complex of Villa Meyer, Villa Mainona, pier of Tremezzo up to the arcades of the historic center of Tremezzo. A little further on is Grand Hotel Tremezzo and Villa Carlotta.
7. Griante – end Greenway: village of Griante, Anglican Church of the Ascension, gardens and villas of Griante from Cadenabbia up to Menaggio.
Lake Como has 170 km of coastline between the Como branch and the Lecco branch. Part of these coasts is urbanized with beautiful villas, gardens and ancient villages, but there remain numerous stretches of wild coast with beautiful beaches for bathing. The growing seaside tourism has also encouraged the opening of many lidos and points of descent to the sea often equipped with every comfort: swimming pool, sunbeds, bar and restaurant and entertainment.
